Henstridge Airfield Special Fly-in Procedures: INFORMATION OMEGA

LOCATION
1.1
Henstridge is an unlicensed airfield located on the border between Somerset and Dorset. The airfield is in uncontrolled Class G airspace and does not have an ATZ. It is however close to the Yeovilton MATZ and the area is designated as an AIAA.
1.2
These procedures are intended to help with the smooth running of the event, and must be complied with where possible. However, all flying shall be conducted in accordance with the normal rules of the air. The safety of each flight overrides all other considerations and the pilot in command takes full responsibility for each flight.

ARRIVALS
1.4
The airfield will be open as normal from 09:00–19:00 (local). PPR is required on www.wessexstrut.org.uk and you are encouraged to view the webcam at https://henstridgeairfield.com/webcam/ to confirm the airfield is open. There are no landing fees on the day.
1.5
You should anticipate many movements taking place throughout the period. Plan a diversion airfield in case of issues such as runway closure.
1.6
Non-radio aircraft are not permitted. The A/G Radio callsign is “Henstridge Radio” on 130.255 Mhz. Call in good time and report that you have INFORMATION OMEGA. Airfield information should be broadcast regularly—but if you need it, ask for it.
1.7
A standard overhead join ONLY will be in use, in accordance with https://www.caa.co.uk/publication/download/13138 at 2000 feet QFE if cloudbase permits. Descend deadside to the north. Aim to achieve separation from other traffic before joining the circuit crosswind
1.8
All circuits are flown to the south, at 800 feet QFE, with the downwind leg to the north of Marnhull but well clear of the industrial estate on the south side of the airfield. Please attempt to not overfly published noise-sensitive areas but safety is paramount at all times. See the circuit diagrams below or use the charts in your flight guide or flight planning software.
1.9
Make position calls at: overhead, descending deadside, downwind, final. Do not expect a response but do listen out for other aircraft. There will be many varied aircraft attending with vastly different performances, especially circuit and approach speed. Slow aircraft should make best speed and faster aircraft be prepared to go-around. De-conflict by extending downwind to increase separation if required and inform Henstridge radio if doing so.
1.10
After landing, vacate the runway to the South as soon as it is safe to do so. Do not backtrack. The main parking area will be on the south side of the runway, so vacate onto the grass taxiway. There are obstructions at the edge of the old (concrete) “dummy deck”—see the arrivals plan below. The affected areas are outlined in red. Continue past the obstruction before vacating. Marshals will direct arrivals to appropriate parking areas.
1.11
If you wish to refuel please do so on departure. Request to do so on the radio, wait for confirmation and you will be marshalled across the runway to the bowsers. After fuelling you will be marshalled back across the runway to the south side taxiway to join departing aircraft.
1.12
The main aircraft parking area will be closed between 1300 and 1400 to allow the public to view visiting aircraft. No aircraft will be allowed to exit the parking area during this time. If you anticipate needing to depart during this period, ask to be parked north side.
DEPARTURES
1.13
Airfield information (RWY in use, QNH) may be broadcast on a regular basis on 130.255. Aircraft may request a radio check and confirmation of the departure information.
1.14
Marshals will direct you to the hold of the active runway via one of the taxiways. Do not backtrack. Expect a queue at the hold. Endeavour to complete power checks before reaching the hold so as not to delay or impede other aircraft.
1.15
Before lining up for departure it is your responsibility to ensure that there is no landing traffic and that the runway is clear. After passing a hold and lining up be ready for immediate take-off—do not delay departure.
1.16
On runway 24 LEFT TURN after take off. RIGHT TURN from runway 06. For departures to the north climb in the circuit and depart through the overhead. Do attempt not to overfly published noise-sensitive areas. See the circuit diagrams below or use the charts in your flight guide or flight planning software.

FUEL
1.17
UL91 and 100LL are available at the fuel pumps on the north side of the runway. Pump attendants will assist you and will give you a slip showing the amount uplifted, the cost and payment details. Please pay by BACS at your earliest opportunity.
1.18
Aircraft taking fuel immediately before departure will be marshalled back across the runway to use the south side grass taxiways to the hold. 2
